I used to buy the pre-seasoned sausage, but decided a while ago to start making my own at home. It can difficult finding seasoned sausage that doesn’t contain sugar and fillers, and it is cheaper to make keto breakfast sausage yourself. I like that I can save money and eat healthy at the same time!

Making your own breakfast sausage is easy: you only require a few ingredients and the cooking process is quick. They freeze well and can be stored in the fridge for up to a week. If you don’t feel like frying up the whole batch in one morning, you can keep the raw sausage meat in the fridge (in an air-tight container) for up to a week.

Meat. As always, I suggest using high quality meat. You can check out your farmer’s market or find a local butcher. I like the convenience of ordering organic and humane-raised meat from ButcherBox.
Patties. I shape my sausage into 2-inch patties (and smaller for my children). I find that larger patties take too long to fry. To shape them into patties, first roll some meat into a ball and then slightly flatten it. It doesn’t have look perfect!
Sides. These keto breakfast sausage patties really go well with anything. Pancakes, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit… you name it!

Keto Brown Sugar Sage Breakfast Sausage
- large skillet
- In a medium bowl, mix together all ingredients (except pork). Add pork, and with your hands mix in well.
- Shape sausage into small patties (about 2-inch wide) by first rolling them into balls and then slightly flatten them.
- Over medium heat, heat a large skillet. Lightly grease skillet.
- Fry patties on both sides until brown and cooked through. Work in batches. Enjoy!
