A great, quick meal that’s both keto and paleo! Boil shrimp in a flavorful broth and serve with an easy Remoulade sauce!

My two boys can eat this whole pound of boiled shrimp in just about 5 minutes. Leaving none for me! Shrimp is by far their favorite seafood and this sweet-sour Remoulade sauce is the cherry on top!

This is a super quick meal that works great as an appetizer or as part of your dinner. The shrimp are cooked in less than 5 minutes! And don’t be afraid to whip together this easy Remoulade that only requires a few basic ingredients.

Are these shrimp and Remoulade really keto and paleo?

Yes, but only if you use the right ingredients! The base of the Remoulade is made with ketchup and mayonnaise, two products that are often sold commercially with a load full of sugar or corn syrup! Take a look at the ingredient list before you buy your mayonnaise and ketchup! I use Primal’s Kitchen Ketchup that’s free of added sugars. For your mayonnaise, look for brands that don’t add sugar and use avocado oil, coconut oil, or olive oil, like this avocado oil-based one.

Shrimp is naturally keto and paleo, and this one is cooked in a vegetable broth made with fresh herbs, celery, and spring onion. It’s very healthy and guaranteed low-carb!

Quick tips for a quick and delicious shrimp appetizer!

Shrimp simmering in vegetable broth.

Shrimp. Buy 1 pound of raw, peeled shrimp (or a bit more than 1 pound if you use unpeeled), preferably wild-caught.

Cook shrimp. Bring water with celery, spring onion, herbs, and spices to a boil. Add the thawed shrimp and simmer for just 2-3 minutes until they look pink. Immediately drain and transfer cooked shrimp to a bowl of ice-cold water to stop them from over-cooking.

Remoulade. Prepare the remoulade while the water is heating (or 1-2 days ahead of time). Use paleo-friendly ketchup and mayonnaise that are free of added sugar. Add all remaining ingredients, stir, and done!

Serve. Serve shrimp with Remoulade and lemon wedges.
